Two zero one three

Happy New Year, my dear readers! Did you celebrate in style? I watched The Hunger Games with a lovely cold glass of Baileys and then listened to the fireworks from my bed. It was a cozy end to the year :)

Have you made any New Year's Resolutions? I love challenges, they keep me so motivated because I'm so competitive with myself. So here are mine:

+ Blog more - I'd love to spend more time here with you guys ♡
+ I've been a terrible penpal, I'd like to write more letters this year
+ Read 50 or more books - I'm going to sign up on Goodreads :) this one is a nice one because it means more reviews for you!
- Don't depend on others for my happiness
- No more procrastinating! / + Work hard!

And finally...

+ Complete the 2013 Photo a Day Challenge:

The lovely Chantelle over at FatMumSlim has created this challenge and, I think, been running it for quite some time now. In fact, I think it was one of these challenges of hers that I took part in last May. I'd love to complete every single month this year. Please, please join me if you love taking photos too :)

I'll post my first picture right here. This morning my mum, little brother and I went for a walk along the beach. It was the first sunny day in ever such a long time! (You may have heard that England is sinking right now, there's been so much rain!) We had a lovely little walk up to the pier and watched while my sweet Macky chased after the seagulls! The prompt for this photo was 'Today':

Tell me about your New Year celebrations my lovelies. And let me know if you have any New Year's resolutions so I can cheer you on! Feel free to join me on any of mine, we can motivate each other!

One last thing... My computer is falling apart. Seriously. Websites don't load, my Word processor crashes every chance it gets, deleting my progress and my screen keeps going dark. So if I don't comment you, don't be sad. It will either be because my comment deleted while I was trying to post it, or because I've thrown my computer out of the window in a rage.

  1. I'm doing the Goodreads reading challenge too, hoping to get to 50 books read, which like you said, means lots of reviews for my blog! The procrastinating one's a good one, I feel like that's all I've been doing over the past few days. That's a gorgeous picture, it's been sunny here today, too; made a nice change! :)

  4. I don't need a special day of the year to try to achieve something. Each day starts a new year!

Hoping you are able to achieve what you want in the new year, Nikki!

  5. Good luck on your resolutions! I'm doing the Goodreads challenge too, but knowing myself I have set the modest goal of 12 books, 1 book a month. Will you be writing reviews?

Also, that Photo a Day challenge looks SO tempting! I already took a photo today, so that would count... hmmm... I'll sleep on it and see if I'm going to participate.

    Happy new year!

  6. Happy New Year, Nikki!:) We celebrated New year with our friends, had good dinner, some drinks:) Spent all the 1st of Jan at home, in front of the heater.
I don't make any resolutions, but I do like the idea of improving yourself and becoming a better person:)
See you and hope you'll fix you laptop soon.
    Warm hugs,
    Anna.

  8. I'm on Goodreads, but am not doing the challenge. I have a ton of books on my 'want to read' list and meet with a once-a-month book club. Our favourite reads in 2012 were The Paris Wife by Paula McLain and Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda. Our January book is My Year with Eleanor by Noelle Hancock, and so far I'm really enjoying it.

Thanks for letting me know about the photo-a-day challenge; I'm signing on, albeit a day late.

I definitely have some goals for 2013. One is to grow my new business.

BTW, I managed to find some less expensive saffron here and made the saffron buns. Unfortunately, my friend's grandfather passed away, so we had to postpone our get-together plans for the time being, but our family did enjoy sampling the buns!

  9. Still not getting your updates on my dashboard so am playing catch up! We didn't do anything on NYE at all; in bed before midnight. Earlier that day we got up early and took my honey's daughter's boyfriend back up to his hometown about an hour away, to get a copy of his birth certificate so that he could get a job. It was his as long as he could show proper ID. He texted us that night that he was hired and he started the next day, 1/1. Other than that, just did crafts and hung out. I don't do resolutions; why set myself up to fail?
