Little baby mice...

...should be cute like this...

...but instead they are scurrying around in our kitchen, nibbling on our Cheerios. Our flat is always dirty, I live with 7 others and my two friends and I have an enormously difficult time keeping it clean. This is our second mouse 'infestation' in a month. I'm sick in my stomach (I'm so sure it's from the dirty kitchen) for the fourth time since January. It's quite hard to take. It's even harder because we have to put down traps for the mice - something which I refuse to take part in. If I see a little mouse family all snapped-up in the traps I shall cry :(

I'm staying wrapped up warm today, even if the sun is shining so prettily outside. I have the chills and I'm sicky sicky sicky. Every so often I get enough energy to sit up and sip on some flat-coke and type a little to you guys. I hate being poorly, but it sure is cosy in here today :)

I like lazy Sundays, what are your favourite Sunday activities? My Sunday recipes will return next week - thinking of food is making my tummy turn in little circles!

  2. Oh no i do hope you are feeling better! It is hard to keep a clean house w/ 7 housemates. I lived w/ 5 housemates one summer in the 80s and it was impossible to keep that place tidy. No one would help. It was gross.

My fave Sunday activities are crafting, enjoying the solitude, sometimes beach combing if the weather is good.

    1. Thank you! I know, it's awful. I don't understand how people can live like this, it really is quite gross!

Those sound like lovely Sunday activities :) I really want to start crafting, you lot inspire me so much!

  4. I've often thought about bringing in a flatmate but then you never know how clean or dirty he/she is so I refrain from doing so. What you describe sounds terrible to me. But then again, it must be fun at times too. :) Good luck and feel better soon!

(I hope the mice thingy gets sorted soon.)

    1. It can turn out so so well, but it can also turn out badly. It can be fun but I prefer a clean living space!

Thank you for your kind words :)

  5. You can buy live traps, so you can release them somewhere. We get the odd one (old house). And sometimes our old cats bring them in...and let them go!

  7. Hiya Nikki - I just wanted to pop in and say 'hi'

We had mice a few years back and I know exactly how you feel. I'd be up every night trying to catch the little blighters. As awful as it sounds and I know it's very Tom & Jerry, but the only way we could get rid of them is by getting a cat!

I hope it works out for you.

    1. Aww I wish we could get a cat! But he wouldn't be working very hard chasing mice, he'd be too busy snuggling in bed with me :D

  8. We had a little mouse in our kitchen in uni earlier in the year and I was terrified. It just moved way too fast for my liking but it was cute, but I had visions of my food being eaten! It wasn't because of our kitchen though, the gap under the front door was too wide so it came through that so that was all sorted out but sadly my housemate bought a trap and killed it! I wasn't there at the time, I would have been upset because it was just a cute little field mouse!

Last year when we lived in uni accommodation we shared it with 5 more people and 4 were boys. The kitchen was disgusting but we were adamant that we were not cleaning up other people's messes! I don't think I could live with people I don't know again, just too much stress!

Hope you feel better soon! My lazy Sunday is being spent revising for exams :(
