After class this morning, I wrapped up warm and went for a little walk down Oxford Street, to see if I could find some gifts for my family. Since it wasn't too badly crowded, I walked down to Selfridges and had a lovely time wandering around each department, pretending I was rich and could afford to buy all kinds of lovely things ^^
I found these sweet little Swedish decorations. In Sweden they don't really have Father Christmas in the same way that we do. Instead they have Tomten, who has a similar role, but they also have lots of little Tomtenissar, which are kind of like his helpers. I think they're really cute, especially these ones, which make such sweet and simple decorations. (And their beards are so soft!)
It's always exciting to see the Christmas displays that Selfridges put in their front windows, however I wasn't a fan of their choices for this year. I did like this little Christmas doll that was hiding in the corner though, but she does have a hint of the horror movie about her...
Have you been doing any Christmas shopping? Do you love it or hate it? I actually really love buying gifts for other people, especially when I find something I just know they're going to love!

ReplyDeleteTo tell the truth, I haven't bought anything yet, but prepared hand made gifts:)planning to buy some small gifts too:)
ReplyDeletethe first thought i had when I saw the doll was that she is scary! not a Christmas creation. Wonder who designedit.
Have a nice day, Nikki!
I don't mind Christmas shopping, but I left it really late this year! I'm having to rush it all, which I don't like doing. Next year I'm starting earlier!
ReplyDeleteI love shopping for my kids because they're still young and buying toys is fun. My husband takes more work, though, and I don't always have the patience to search for the perfect gift. :)
ReplyDeleteThat doll would be perfect in a horror movie! The Tomtenissar are so cute, though!
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out why your posts aren't showing up on my dashboard. Anywho, great decorations! I used to love Christmas shopping but now there's no one left to buy for. We give my fiance's kids money.
ReplyDeleteOK I've tried everything I can think of to get your new blog to show up and every time i add this new URL, it takes me to the list of posts from your former blog, and when I click on that it says the blog no longer exists. :(
ReplyDeleteI have most of my Christmas shopping done now; just need a few more stocking gifts. But our tree still isn't decorated and we haven't done any Christmas baking yet :(
ReplyDeleteHeeey Nikki! Long time no comment. :D I've missed your Nordic corner of the world. :)
ReplyDeleteI do most (if not all) of my shopping online, but I do like wandering stores and seeing all the Christmas decorations and things. I love this time of year. :)
What an interesting choice for a Christmas decorations, haha! But I kind of like the doll too. She's very different, and I like that. And the Tomtenissar are darling!
Hi Nikki! Thank you for giving me the blog award! So lovely of you x I will do it for you a.s.a.p!
ReplyDeleteAnd Oh I wish I have some snow in where I live now (South East Asia)! Christmas is my favorite season of all! I have not done Christmas shopping much but I do buy some presents for kids in poor countries (volunteer x'mas gift box donation mission)Other than that, I have bought a few gifts for my family. I can't wait to go to church and sing christmas song with all my church mate. Getting excited just by telling you all these now! :)
Hi Nikki. Thanks so much for checking out my blog, I am sorry it has taken me this long to return the favour!
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas shopping! Buying gifts for others is so much more fulfilling than buying things for yourself. The only thing I don't like about Christmas shopping are the crowds! (I'm not much of a 'crowd' person)
Hope you have a great Christmas!
this is such a wonderful time of the year:) I love christmas:)
ReplyDeleteYep you got to love Christmas time, Tomten in Sweden is actually pretty much the same thing as father Christmas he's also called tomtefar (santa father), but yes he looks a bit different. He's usually less fat and jolly compared to Father Crhistmas haha :) Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas! I just really hope it snows… it doesn't look like it will this year :(
ReplyDeleteOoh, lovely post! :- )
ReplyDeleteI've never actually heard of Tomten or Tomtenissar, but they're so cute!
Lovely blog by the way- will definitely be following!
